My name is Jacqui, I am Canadian. I am an animated speaker with a North American accent. I had a successful career in business but left to pursue my love of travelling full time. For nearly 10 years I have been leading lessons with young learners and adult students. While I prefer conversation and business English classes, I also teach general English in Polish schools and exam preparation classes.
Recently, I have become a Cambridge speaking examiner. I enjoy conversation classes on almost any topic and tailor lessons to students’ interests.
I have been travelling for the past twelve or so years mainly throughout South America and Southeast Asia. I learned Spanish in Peru and studied French in Canada. I have been trying, though largely unsuccessfully, to learn Polish, my grandmother’s native tongue.I am delighted to talk about my travel adventures and am curious about people, cultures and customs.
I have worked with Kasia and EV since 2022 and thoroughly enjoy the experience teaching teachers. They share their experiences and ideas as well as educating me on Polish life and customs. My classes often include short thought-provoking videos as well as authentic reading materials. I love learning and teaching new vocabulary and idioms. I employ breakout rooms frequently to allow participants greater speaking time. I’m not overly fond of grammar but if students are seeking clarification, I will try to explain or find an explanation.
I believe in creating an environment that encourages students’ confidence where needed and allows them to dominate the conversation. I strive to make my lessons enjoyable, entertaining, and meaningful.
