I’m Naomi and I’m an American who started off in California, ended up in North Carolina, and then made my way into the larger world from there. I’ve been teaching for a little over eight years now including in places like China, Japan, and now in Poland.
My earlier focuses were on teaching English reading and writing but later experiences launched me into teaching conversation English. As anyone who knows me can confirm, I’m a vocabulary enthusiast and that is often something you will see a fair bit of in my classes. I’m a fan of group discussions (the questions and topics are usually given ahead of time), but I also really enjoy using breakout rooms to give everyone more opportunities to share their thoughts in our sessions.
I’m working on adding more consistent vocabulary revision into lessons though I can guarantee one larger session at least every few weeks or so.
I’m also a fan of creating an open floor space for any and all questions at the beginning of each lesson: this includes grammar, vocabulary, things your kids or students asked, and anything and everything else. Furthermore, I’m a stickler about making sure you have access to generally ample notes after each lesson.
Beyond teaching, I’m an avid reader, writer, gamer, and watcher of all things fantasy. I’m not a published author yet but it’s on my docket for the near future. And though I’m not fluent in any second language, I’m a sucker for Asian entertainment and am trying to learn how to speak Chinese. I wouldn’t mind adding Japanese to that list as well.
I infinitely prefer the quieter life of living in a smaller city rather than a bustling metropolis like Krakow. Clearly, I’m not a big city gal. haha 😉
